- Education-Research Integration Program Supports Continued Research Activities Based on INU Vision 2030
Incheon National University (INU), led by President Injae Lee, continues to produce notable research results through programs that connect engineering education with research activities.
Professor Youngdon Park of the Department of Energy and Chemical Engineering developed a high-performance gas sensor using porous two-dimensional organic electronic materials that can be applied to large-area devices. The sensor can detect gases at the parts-per-billion (ppb) level. The research was published in Nature Communications. Professor Sangmoon Kim of the Department of Mechanical Engineering participated in research with researchers at Chung-Ang University to develop a “bioinspired air filter” modeled after the natural filtration system of the human nose. The technology improves fine dust capture efficiency and filter lifespan and was published in Nature. Professor Jaemin Cha of the Department of Bio-Robotics Systems Engineering published a paper on a freeze-drying process designed to preserve the therapeutic properties of stem cells and discussed possible directions for further research. The article was published in the News & Views section of Nature Biomedical Engineering. Professor Jungwan Cho of the Division of Electronics Engineering developed a “quantum dot printing technology” for ultra-high-resolution displays. The technology can be applied to virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and wearable electronic devices and was published in Nature Electronics. “The faculty members and students who continue their educational and research activities play an important role in the development of our university,” said Jundong Kim, Dean of the College of Engineering at INU. “We will continue to provide research support so that faculty members and students can carry out their research activities effectively.”
Since its founding in 1979 as Incheon College of Engineering, the predecessor of Incheon National University, INU has educated engineering professionals and carried out research in various engineering fields. Based on its mid- to long-term development plan, INU Vision 2030, the university will continue to strengthen its education and research programs.
